Fort Lupton Fence Permit & Height Requirements
Fort Lupton requires a permit for every new fence. A permit is also required when a repair or replacement affects more than 50% of an existing fence or 50 feet, whichever is less. Repairs replacing less than 50% of an existing fence don’t require a permit under the city’s stated requirements.
Fence height limits depend on placement and design. Solid residential front-yard fences are limited to 3 feet, while front-yard fences that are at least 50% open may reach 4 feet. Side and rear fences located behind the front building line may be up to 6 feet tall.
Fort Lupton permits wood and vinyl fence materials, but chain-link and woven wire aren’t allowed for front fences. Fences must generally remain at least 18 inches from a public sidewalk unless a qualifying front fence satisfies the applicable design standards.
